That was the Headline flashed in the yesterday's Sunday Times. About 100,000 women in Singapore do not have Medishield insurance coverage and risk having to shoulder hefty medical Bills. They are mainly housewives with no medisave savings. Such women are noted for being not covered either due to "pure ignorance or when their coverage lapses over time.It was brought up in the NTUC forum as "Even as we live longer and need more health care, we have lesser means to pay for them."
NTUC intends to reach out to this group to encourage women to sign up for the Medishield. It was also brought upwomen with no Medishield coverage are probably uninformed or unwillimg to strain family relations by asking their family to get them onto the scheme. It was suggested that monthly contributions by husbands to their wives' CPF accounts must become a social norm or be regulated.
On the same day, there was another article whereby the Health Minister , Mr. Khaw Boon Wan has stressed that it is vital to join Medishield. He related a recent case whereby a man whose father had to be warded after being infected by H1N1 virus. In fact he was admitted to a hospital's intensive care unit, where charges are higher. However there was never a word about how the family can't afford to pay, although he has come from a family with average income. They have Medisave and Medishield coverage and thus no problems with paying the hospital bills.
This. Mr. Khaw said, underscored the importance of insurance scheme. "Imagine without Medishield and Medisave, a few thousand dollars become impossible to pay...but to benefit from it, you must be in it," he said, urging Singaporeans, especially the self-employed, to sign up.
We should just ride on the recent development of the H1N1 virus, lack of MediShield by housewives as well as the Health Minister's comments to influence more people to take up our PruShield + Extra! It is never a better time than this!! Haha!

Opportunity ??
Noticed an article in Zhaobao Weekly No 1125 dated 19/07/09 mentioning that there is a possibility that Singapore may carry out a nationwide campaign on "Occult Blood Test In Faeces" in 2010. The target group is at the older age people and people who have symptoms so as to encourage them to have early medical examinations and treatment.
Those citizens whose age have reached 50 years old and above, regardless of their sex will have to collect the testing kit from designated centres, free of charge. From an estimation, the number from this group of people who will benefit from this exercise will total up to 400,000.
Colon cancer has been found to be the major cancer associated with people in Singapore. According to the statistical records, the annual average figure has been more than 1,200 cases, ie. there are 4 persons confirm to have colon cancer everyday.
We need to keep this group of people be informed of the situation. With the waiting period required for critical illness being 90 days for most policies, it maybe a good opportunity to start selling Package Plans with Critical Illness Cover to this group of people in time!!

Just reproducing the gist of the article on Straits Times (July, 5 2009) on S-Pass:
WHAT IS AN S-PASS?

- The criteria for S-Pass holders has been raised since June 1. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has recalibrated the points allocated in each criterion to encourage employers to employ better qualified S-Pass holders.

Some Good Advice
Just got these few advice while reading the foreward by Robert Kiyosaki on the book "$ales Dogs" by Blair Singer:
Manipulation, deception, pressure, false sincerity, phony smiles, is NOT selling.
Selling is communication. True selling is caring, listening, solving problems and serving your fellow human being.
To rich dad, selling meant being able to overcome our personal doubts, fears and wants, and going out day after day with only the idea of serving our fellow human beings.
"True selling or communication is not about how many sales you make or how big your commission cheque is. True selling means being passionate about your company's product or service and being compassionate with the wants, dreams and needs of your fellow human beings."
The Golden Rule - Law of Reciprocity
Your sales ability was not measured by the size of your commission cheque. Instead he said, " Keep improving your ability to sell and to communicate, and your life will improve if you use your skill to help other people."
"Your wealth, your power and your happiness improve with your ability to communicate. It is the most important skill in the world of business and in life. Keep improving your communication skills, use your skills to improve the lives of others, and your life will also improve!
Well said!!
Hope that these will also enlighten all our family members too!
