Noticed an article in Zhaobao Weekly No 1125 dated 19/07/09 mentioning that there is a possibility that Singapore may carry out a nationwide campaign on "Occult Blood Test In Faeces" in 2010. The target group is at the older age people and people who have symptoms so as to encourage them to have early medical examinations and treatment.


Those citizens whose age have reached 50 years old and above, regardless of their sex will have to collect the testing kit from designated centres, free of charge. From an estimation, the number from this group of people who will benefit from this exercise will total up to 400,000.


Colon cancer has been found to be the major cancer associated with people in Singapore. According to the statistical records, the annual average figure has been more than 1,200 cases, ie. there are 4 persons confirm to have colon cancer everyday.


We need to keep this group of people be informed of the situation. With the waiting period required for critical illness being 90 days for most policies, it maybe a good opportunity to start selling Package Plans with Critical Illness Cover to this group of people in time!!
